Namtso Lake (Heavenly Lake)
Today, you will visit Namtso Lake, one of the three sacred lakes in Tibet, located at an altitude of 4,718 meters. Namtso spans approximately 1980 square kilometers, making it one of the largest high-altitude saltwater lakes in the world.
The lake is surrounded by the Nyainqentanglha Mountains and the Gangdise Mountains, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks reflecting on the clear, deep blue waters. The northern shore features many peninsulas and bays, while the area is rich in glaciers, wetlands, and alpine grasslands, providing a unique and pristine environment.
Visitors can walk along the lakeshore, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and capture stunning photographs of the natural landscape. The region is also home to various wildlife and rare bird species, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts.
