Yamdrok Lake (Yamdrok Yumtso)
Karola Glacier
After breakfast, depart Lhasa and head towards Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes. Known as the “Jade Lake” in Tibetan, it stretches across the highland with crystal-clear turquoise waters, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The lake’s stunning beauty is perfect for photography and experiencing the serene Tibetan landscape.
Continue to Karola Glacier, one of Tibet’s three major continental glaciers, located near the southern slope of the Nainqingsangpo Peak (7,191 m). The glacier stretches close to the road, offering a breathtaking view of ice formations resembling a massive, shining Thangka in sunlight. The area has been featured in films due to its spectacular scenery.
Travel onward to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet, for overnight stay.
