Jokhang Temple
Tibet Museum
(Optional: Watch “Princess Wencheng” show in the evening)
After breakfast, visit Jokhang Temple, one of Tibet’s most sacred sites. Established over 1,300 years ago, it is central to Tibetan Buddhism and a spiritual hub for pilgrims. Explore its exquisite architecture and witness the daily rituals of devotees. The temple’s main hall houses the revered statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, and the surrounding Barkhor Street offers a glimpse of local culture, bustling markets, and traditional Tibetan life.
Visit the Tibet Museum, inaugurated in 1999. The museum showcases Tibet’s long and vibrant history, including artifacts from ancient times to modern periods. Explore seven permanent exhibition halls featuring Buddhist sculptures, thangkas, ancient manuscripts, traditional costumes, and archaeological finds. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of Tibetan history, culture, and art.
You may choose to attend the cultural show “Princess Wencheng”, which narrates the historic story of the Tang Dynasty princess’s journey to Tibet and her contribution to Tibetan-Chinese cultural exchange.
